MODULE OVERVIEW

This module aims to correct the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by implementing Tajweed rules, rectifying the pronunciations and improving fluency. Hence the module will cover the following three areas:

1) Tajweed - Applying the rules

2) Makhaarij - Pronouncing the letters correctly

3) Fluency - gaining ability to read in a rhythmic manner and with a smooth flow

The amount of recitation that will be covered in this course will be 15 Surahs and parts of Surah Al Baqarah

ADDITIONAL HELP

Part of this course is to be in a WhatsApp group with the teacher. Students will receive weekly recordings of the amount of recitation for that week via a WhatsApp group giving more time to teacher to focus on listening during lessons.

Students will be expected to listen to these recordings and ensure it is learnt prior to the lesson.

OBJECTIVE

To be able to read the Quran accurately and be safe from making any major (Lahn Jali) and minor (Lahn Khafi) mistakes.

* Be able to recite the Quran with correct Tajweed and makhaarij

* Be able to recite the Quran fluently

MODULE OVERVIEW

Tafseer is the subject which reveals the meaning of the Quran. It is an essential subject for any student intending to understand the Holy Quran. This 2-year module is designed to equip the participants with sufficient knowledge about the Quran and its meanings. in the first year, the modules will cover the study of the 30th Juz with its translation, cause of revelation and meaning. The 30th Juz, also known as ‘Juz Amma’ is the chapter of Quran which is recited frequently in the 5 daily Salaah hence its selection in this course.

The second year of the module will focus on the Tafseer of only a few chosen surahs. More attention will be given to the scientific aspects of the Quran and other important factors such as:

1) Orientalism

2) The satanic verses

3) Abrogation in the Qur’an

MODULE OVERVIEW

Prophetic Ahaadeeth are the second source of Shariʽah after the Holy Quran. It is relied upon for the explanation and clarity of the meaning of the Quranic texts and the entire Shariʽah at large. Without the support of Ahaadeeth our religion would be incomplete.

This module will cover a selection of 350 Ahaadeeth, explaining the essence of prophetic wisdom and guidance along with reading the original Arabic text. The module will help deepen religious understanding, nurture faith, increase the love of the beloved Prophet ﷺ, and gain clarity on how to live the essence of his wisdom. The modules will also cover matters related to Hadeeth like the preservation of Hadeeth, Isnaad (Transmission) of Hadeeth, orientalism and Hadeeth, types of Hadeeth, definition of Saheeh, Da’eef and Mawd’u Ahadeeth etc. this will strengthen the participants overall understanding of Hadeeth and give a firm grounding of the position of Hadeeth in Shariʽah.

OBJECTIVE

This module has been carefully designed to spiritually nurture the participants and motivate the students to stay steadfast on their religion which is fading away in our times. We also aim is to give students an overall understanding of Shariʽah through Hadeeth and give clarity of the position and relation of Hadeeth to Shariʽah as well as giving a spiritual building through the words of Prophet ﷺ.

MODULE OVERVIEW

The Arabic Module has been designed for the English-speaking students with the purpose of teaching the Qur’anic and traditional Arabic. A structured and comprehensive Arabic course devised from the renowned Madinah Arabic reader of Madinah Islamic University.

The module will go over Arabic grammar and translation from Arabic language to the English Language. However, the selections of contents have been taken from the “Madinah Arabic Reader” series; book 1 and 2.

It combines modern Arabic vocabulary with Islamic terminology used in the Quran and Sunnah. It helps acquire an elementary understanding of many Qur’anic verses, Ahaadeeth, Arabic parables and poetry.

The first year will cover the foundation level of Arabic such as the basics of Arabic writing and reading, Arabic grammar and basic day to day sentences. The second year will cover a wider and deeper range of advanced Arabic grammar with examples from Quran and Arabic conversations.

OBJECTIVE

To attain a foundation level of understanding in Arabic language and grammar, making it easy to understand Qur’anic verses and Ahaadeeth.

MODULE OVERVIEW

This module will allow students to gain the necessary understandings of Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) related to the acts of worship, i.e. purification, prayer, practical method of Salah, Wudhu, Fasting, Zakat, Inheritance, Islamic slaughter, Marriage, Divorce, Interest dealings, Halaal and Haraam etc. These topics have been selected and carefully structured with only the necessary amount of information needed from each topic. The Fiqh will be according to the Hanafi school of thought from the reliable sources of the Hanafi manuals.

OBJECTIVE

To gain the understanding of the important topics of Shariʽah that are vital to our day to day lives.

* Be able to act upon his necessities as a Muslim knowing that each action is according to the Sunnah while having the confidence in worshipping Allah according to the guidelines set out by Prophet ﷺ

MODULE OVERVIEW

This is a one-year module which will highlight the important tenets of creed that differentiate the Ahlus Sunnah from others and will examine the basis of the Ahlus Sunnah creedal positions based on Quran and Sunnah.

There are 2 ways of understanding a creed. The first is by removing misconceptions and building the mind-set. The second is by going through a system of creed thereby building an understanding of the beliefs like Al-Aqeedah al-Tahawiyyah of Imam Al-Tahawi. This course is designed to cater for both parts of understanding a creed.

The module will also highlight the historical emergence of straying sects and the differences that caused them to deviate. Contemporary debates, misconceptions in creed and about god, differences and groups will also be examined when discussing issues such as the attributes of Allah, rationality and Shariʽah, the finality of prophethood, and others.

OBJECTIVE

To have a good grounding of the correct creed of Islam which is the creed of Ahlus Sunnah i.e. the prophet ﷺ, the Sahaba and their companions.

MODULE OVERVIEW

This is a 1-year module to learn about the life of Rasulullah ﷺ. The course will track the life of our beloved prophet ﷺ from the days before his birth to him receiving prophethood. In terms 2 and 3 it will follow his life after he received prophethood through to migrating to Madinah Munawarah and the many challenges and battles he faced. The module follows his birth and upbringing through to his receiving of prophethood, the spread of Islam in Makkah and the immigration to Madinah including his many struggles and battles.

Seerah helps to better understand Shariʽah in its context which also removes misconceptions about Islam therefore making it an impart part of the Islamic diploma course.

A Diploma in Islamic Studies certificate will be provided by the Institute upon successful completion of the course
