(Taalimi Board)
A small booklet on Tajwīd, which is nicely laid out without too much information that may confuse the reader. It is an easy read for someone who wants to grasp the basic rules of Tajwīd. It covers an introduction to the Qur’ān being a primary source of guidance, etiquettes of reading and memorising the Qur’ān and briefly talks about ʿilm al-Qirāáh.
From the subject of tajwīd itself, it covers the following topics:
- crucial topic of makhārij and ṣifāt - rules of ghunnah, nūn and mīm sākinah - rules on madd (stretching/lengthening) - rules on stopping or pausing.
The booklet then ends with some notes on rasmal-khaṭṭ; a special script in which the Qur’ānic verses are written. The content of this booklet may be found at the back of the newly published South-African muṣḥafs.
(Learning Roots)
The clear-cut guide to learning the art of Qur’ān recitation. The beauty of this course extends beyond its attractive layout and design and permeates to the way it fundamentally reviews the teaching methodology of this noble skill. The chapters in Tajweed Untangled begin with real examples from the Noble Qur’ān demonstrating a rule in action. After listening to the examples, readers are encouraged to reflect and decipher the rule for themselves. Rules are then explained clearly and rendered in a salient layout for easy revision. Written tasks and practice lines then follow to help reinforce the application of the rules. The clarity and effectiveness of both the methodology and layout make Tajweed Untangled an enjoyable and beneficial experience for children and adults alike.
(Safar Academy)
Rules of Tajwid, is a sequel to the Safar Qa'idah and part of the comprehensive Safar Learn to Read Series. This book consists of seven progressive levels, each targeting a unique feature of learning, which follow on from the 13 levels of the Safar Qa'idah .It may be taught alongside Safar Juz Amma or while a student starts to read the Qur’ān. While reading the book, students will master the application of tajwīd in the passages of the Qur’ān that are to be read to the teacher. This book is the product of teaching tajwīd for several years at Safar Academy and will help students to gradually reach a proficient level of Qur’ān recitation. The script has been imported directly from the13-line Qur’ān, which is written with clarity and available worldwide. The text is not colour-coded with tajwīd rules, so that students are able to read black and white Qur’āns without such aids. It includes a unique marking code, diary and checklist which are elements that have been designed to keep track of a student's progress and to enhance the communication between the student, his parents and the teacher.
